I hhave felt sad about this as it hasn't entirely come as a soft realisation to me; I applied to The Farnham University for the Creative Arts this year. My interview was awkward. Realism was "all" I had to offer - and I applied to a University specialising in *Creative* Arts. There is nothing creative about realism. It replicates precisely. I described it as too easily becoming a science. I was agreed with and references as being mathematical which hurt me. However, I don't at all disregard realism as redundant: it's an incredibly utility and I plan on using it well for future pieces. It's not a barren ability in the slightest. So I'm using my insecurity to explore different avenues and trying to give my imagination some much-needed exercise, so don't be concerned if you see any absolutely dreadful, strange or plain awful submissions from me lately. I like being pointed in the right direction by other people because now I realise how important it feels to me that other people actually enjoy my art. x
